ここからはサクサクマスターのぼくが映画を紹介する『サクシネマ』なのですが、
みんな一度は観たことがあるに違いない名画・・・
『スタンド・バイ・ミー』
役名で左からゴーディ、クリス、テディ、バーン
この映画を最近再鑑賞しました。じつはぼくは、この映画を観るのはこれで８回目です。
公開当時も映画館で観ましたし、そのあとはテレビだったりビデオだったりで何度も観たので、セリフもだいたい覚えてしまっているほどです。
この映画は、ぼくにとってはちょっと特別な映画なのですが、どうして特別なのかはお店に来てぼくに訊いてください（笑）
ぼくは昔、このモノクロの写真の切り抜きを、
部屋の壁に飾っていました。懐かしい～(*´ｰ`)
物語のあらすじは、もう知っていると思いますが、
片田舎の小さな町に住む同い年の少年４人が、町から３０キロほど先にある死体を探しに行く・・・という、ノスタルジック・ロード・ムービーです。
この映画はスティーブン・キングの『THE BODY』（死体）というタイトルの小説が原作ですが、映画のエンディングで流れる・・・
ベン・E・キングの『STAND BY ME』が
この映画のタイトルにぴったりだということで、そうなったそうです。
ベン・E・キングの『STAND BY ME』の歌詞は、
どんなに恐ろしいときでも、どんなに悲しいときでも、ぼくは君がそばにいてくれればだいじょうぶなんだ。
逆に、君に困ったことがあったなら、ぼくのそばにおいで。ぼくのそばにいておくれ。
ざっとそういう内容の歌です。
英語的に言うと、《stand by me》は物理的な《ぼくのそばにいてくれ》という意味と、精神的な《ぼくの味方でいてほしい》や《心の中にはいつも君がそばにいる》という意味があります。
ちなみに《いっしょにいて》は《stay with me》ですし、《ぼくの味方でいて》は《stay by my side》です。その両方の意味が《stand by me》にはあるのです。
映画は１２歳の少年４人が、同じ冒険をし、稀有な時間を共有し、それは忘れられない思い出となり、そしてたった２日の出来事なのに、この経験でいつしか４人が成長している様を描いています。
川を越えるのに橋を渡ると遠回りだからと、
線路の上を歩いて死にそうになったり・・・
夜は火をおこしてそれでマシュマロを焼いたりしながら、
テレビ番組の女性の胸が最近デカくなったとか・・・
「グーフィーって何だ？」
「犬だろ」
「犬じゃないよ。犬が車の運転するか？」
こんなどうでもいい話をしたり・・・
そんななか、クラス１の不良扱いのクリスが、ゴーディにこんな打ち明け話をします。
ク「俺がクラスのミルク代を盗んだの知ってるだろ？」
ゴ「知ってる。あれは本当に君が盗ったのかい？」
ク「ああ。盗ったよ。だけどあとで先生に返したんだ。だけど、ミルク代は盗まれたままで、その翌週、なぜか先生が新しい洋服を着ていたんだ」
ゴ「先生がミルク代を盗ったんだな！」
ク「だとしてもだ、だれが不良の俺の言うことなんか信じると思う？ まさか先生がそんなことするなんて思わなかったよ・・・。もう・・・、どこかに行ってしまいたいよ。俺のことを誰も知らないところへ・・・」
いつも強気なクリス（左）が、
親友のゴーディ（右）へ泣きながら打ち明けるシーン
ここは、何度観ても胸がしめつけられます(ﾉдヽ)
翌朝、
ゴーディはひとりでいるときに、
鹿と遭遇します。
ちょっとの間、無言で鹿と対峙し、そして鹿はどこかに行ってしまいます。
ですが、ゴーディはこのときの出来事に何か言い知れない《特別》を感じ、ここで鹿と出会ったことは仲間にも誰にも言わずに、自分だけの秘密にします。
そのあと４人は、目的地の森の中で・・・
「あそこだ！」（バーンが死体を見つけます）
光を放つことのなくなった死体を目の当たりにし、そして４人は・・・。
１２歳の少年が葬式でもない場所で見た、数日前まではたしかに生きていた知人の死体・・・。それは《死》は遠いところにあるものではなく、つねに自分たちにもつかず離れずにより添っているものだと、教えてくれたのかもしれません。
だからこそ、４人はこの小さな旅で成長したのでしょう。そのことは大人になったゴーディが回顧で語る、
「あれの前と後では、何もかもが違って見えた」
という言葉でもわかります。
とくにゴーディは、まぶしいほどの鹿の《生》と、色を失った知人の《死》を、時間をおかずに見たので、なおさらだったと思います。
少年時代の思い出・・・
少年時代の仲間・・・
それは少年時代だけに得ることができる《永遠の宝物》で、そのときにその宝物を得られないまま大人になった人間は、どんなに大きく緻密なジクソーパズルを完成させても、よく見ると、ところどころピースが欠けているような、そんな喪失感を覚えるのではないか・・・と感じます。そして、その欠けているピースは、大人になってからでは、もう埋めることはできないのです。
少年時代にかぎらず、いましかできないこと、やっておくべきことは、どんな年齢になってもあると思うので、
毎日、その日はもう二度と戻っては来ないことを意識して、日々がんばったり、笑ったり、泣いたり、ときにはちょっと怒ったりもしながら、自分だけの《宝物》を増やしていきたいと思います(*´ω｀*)
最後に、
グーフィーはたしかに普通の犬とはちょっと違うと、ぼくは思います。
だって、ただの犬だったら・・・
こんなふうにプルートを散歩させてるのは
おかしいと思いませんか？(*´艸｀*)
プルートは裸で、グーフィーは服を着ていて、プルートはミッキーのペットで、グーフィーはミッキーの友達・・・って、デ○ズニーのキャラ設定のラインが謎です(＠_＠;)
